PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens achieving small size, wide angle and high variable power, improving the image quality and facilitating manufacture. SOLUTION: In the zoom lens, the intervals between a plurality of lens groups are suitably changed to vary a magnification. The zoom lens includes in order from the object side: a first lens group with positive power; a second lens group with negative power; a third lens group with positive power; a fourth lens group with positive power; and a fifth lens group with positive power. In the zoom lens, the first lens group includes a reflecting member for changing an optical path, and satisfies the following conditions: 1.6<β<SB>2</SB>(t)/β<SB>2</SB>(w)<10.0, and 3.3<β<SB>4</SB>(t)/β<SB>4</SB>(w)<10.0, whereinβ<SB>2</SB>(t) is a lateral magnification of the second lens group in a telephoto end in infinite focusing,β<SB>2</SB>(w) is a lateral magnification of the second lens group in a wide-angle end in infinite focusing,β<SB>4</SB>(t) is lateral magnification of the fourth lens group in the telephoto end in infinite focusing, andβ<SB>4</SB>(w) is a lateral magnification of the fourth lens group in the wide-angle end in infinite focusing.
