The invention relates to a receiver layer, preferably thermally transferable, for use in dye diffusion thermal transfer printing comprising a swellable inorganic lamellar material, e.g. a clay, that is at least partiallyin an exfoliated or intercalated state, and to a dye diffusion thermaltransfer ribbon comprising such a receiver layer.
