<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of acquiring, as a destination candidate, map image data from a map database even when the address, facility name and the like of a user's destination are not clear. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 stores each facility to be the object of destination retrieval as landmark information, stores each facility of the landmark name as landmark type information, and creates a landmark list based on the user's memory on the screen of a display means. On the basis of the created landmark list and input area information, the image forming apparatus 100 selects the landmark information including the corresponding landmark name of a corresponding area of a landmark information storage section to create destination candidate area information.
