PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejector which can highly accurately carry out a liquid droplet ejection inspection of nozzles while suppressing poor ejection caused by adhesion of spray of a liquid, and to provide a printer. SOLUTION: A roll paper printer 1 has a carriage 17 which can move back and forth, a printing head 14 carried on the carriage 17, and a head cap 44 which can come in and out of contact from the lower side to a nozzle formation surface 14a that has ink nozzles provided in the printing head 14. The head cap 44 is inclined when coming out of contact to the nozzle formation surface 14a.
