PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus suppressing an increase in time until ending processing, from a point of time when the relevant processing is to be performed by an image processing apparatus, in comparison with the case where no authentication is adopted, even when a high-grade authentication system such as biological authentication is used. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus 1 is provided with at least an image forming means 6 for performing image formation using computerized image information as a processing means, and also is provided with an authentication means 19 for authenticating a user who uses the processing means. The image processing apparatus 1 is configured to include at least a part of processing steps in the processing means as a parallel processing step in which processing is performed simultaneously in parallel with an authentication processing step in the authentication means 19.
