PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for detecting an amount of remaining toner which detects an amount of remaining toner accurately even in toner boxes having different capacity or shape, and to provide an image forming device. SOLUTION: An engaging part 88 is provided on an inclined face 84 of the toner box in a first process cartridge 54, and the remaining toner amount detection device 58 having a remaining toner amount sensor 90 is provided in a body 12 of an image forming device. When mounting the first process cartridge 54, the remaining toner amount sensor 90 is engaged with the engaging part 88 to move the remaining toner amount sensor 90 to a detection position. Even when mounting a second process cartridge 104 different in shape from the first process cartridge 54, the remaining toner amount sensor 90 is engaged with an engaging part 108 and is moved to a position for detecting a toner empty state when the remaining amount of toner becomes the same.
