PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimally restrain a defective image such as color shifting and an irregular color from being generated as a result of shifting a luminous flux out of an optical axis because of a temperature change with the lapse of time in the periphery to change an irradiation position or the like on a face to be scanned, in an optical scanner. SOLUTION: The optical scanner has: a light source (1) for emitting a light; a deflector (2A) provided with a deflecting element (2) for deflection-scanning the face to be scanned, with the light emitted from the light source, and a motor (M) for driving the deflecting element; and an optical box (6) for storing the light source and the deflector. In the optical scanner, hole parts (9a, 9B) are provided in the vicinity of roots of ribs (7a, 7b) provided on an installation face opposed to the deflecting element (2), on the installation face installed with the deflector (2A) of the optical box (6).
