PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable even beginners to easily identify fast-moving specified symbols. SOLUTION: The rotary reel unit 41 for game machines includes a cylindrical reel drum 12 rotatable vertically, three reel belts 31 which are disposed on the outer circumference of the reel drum 12 and have two kinds of specified symbols 32 and 33 colored with a color ink and different in form and other varied symbols drawn on them and a light source 14 for lighting the symbols from behind. On each of the reel belts 31, some parts of the two kinds of specified symbols 32 and 33 are respectively formed transparently or semi-transparently while the transparent or semi-transparent part 32a or 33a is positioned on the right for the one of the two kinds of specified symbols 32 and 33 and on the left for the other in the direction orthogonal to the rotation of the reel drums.
