<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag system for protecting a pedestrian capable of achieving a hardly deformable casing easily at low cost and with reduced weight. <P>SOLUTION: The airbag system for protecting the pedestrian comprises an airbag 11, an inflator 12 to supply inflation gas to the airbag 11, a casing 13 storing the folded airbag 11 and the inflator 12, and a cowl louver covering an opening in the casing 13 storing the airbag 11, wherein a pair of mutually facing side walls 132a and 132b of the casing 13 storing the airbag 11 and the inflator 12 are interconnected by a reinforcement member 18 at one or more longitudinal points of each of the side walls 132a, 132b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
