<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grip tape for a batting implement, capable of changing a grip diameter by using a rubber elastic resin or a viscoelastic resin consisting of a gelated resin or the like as a material of a shock absorbing member and forming the grip surface into a rugged shape or a tapered shape, and a method for manufacturing it. <P>SOLUTION: The grip tape wound around the sport batting implement includes a double-sided adhesive tape bonded on the surface skin and its back face, the shock absorbing member bonded on an inner face of the tape and a double-sided adhesive tape bonded on the back face of the tape. The shock absorbing member is made of the rubber elastic resin or the viscoelastic resin and has an upper and lower faces of a tapered shape in a cross section. The grip tape for the batting implement is wound around the sport batting implement to form the surface of the grip tape into the rugged shape or the tapered shape.
