PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coupling attaching device for an oil well pipe that can prevent a screwing failure of the first tapered screw parts and can reduce a failure rate of attaching couplings, when a special screw coupling is attached to the pipe end of an oil well pipe. SOLUTION: This coupling attaching device has a device body 4, which can advance or recede to the pipe end W1 of the oil well pipe W, and an arbor 1, which is mounted on the device body 4 so as to be replaceable according to the outside diameter size of the special screw coupling K and rotatable with the outside diameter part of the coupling K clamped. A centering jig 2, which centers the coupling K by receiving the annular parallel part d protruded on the inner surface of the coupling K by the outside circumferential surface, is provided on the front side of the arbor 1.
