PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of distortion in molding as to a method for producing an optical element and an optical element, in particular, as to a technology coping with a reflow treatment. SOLUTION: The method for producing a lens 16 formed of a thermosetting (meth)acrylate resin includes a process for forming the lens 16 by thermally setting a composition comprising a thermosetting (meth)acrylate monomer and a polymerization initiator in a molding die. A molding temperature in the thermally setting process is not lower than a two-minute half life temperature and not higher than a 0.011-second half life temperature of the polymerization initiator.
