PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic document conveying device capable of sufficiently reducing manufacturing cost by reducing the number of sensors in a document conveying path. SOLUTION: A controller 100 driving-controls a separating/conveying means, a reading/conveying means, a switch back means, and a switching claw 44. The controller 100 driving-controls a paper supply motor 102, a reading motor 103, a reverse motor 104, and a switching claw 44 and determines document jam, based on the detection results of a document set sensor 30 and a resist sensor 54 which is disposed at one place downstream of the confluence 61a of paper supply passages 61, 62, and a re-paper supply passage 46b and upstream of a reading position 80 and detects the end part of the document.
