PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polishing machine effectively controlling polishing performance on the outer circumference surface of a rubber elastic layer along the axial direction without altering nor adjusting the shape of a polishing grinding stone and conditions. SOLUTION: The plunge cylindrical polishing machine comprises: a rotatable cylindrical polishing grinding stone; a holding means rotating the rubber roller while keeping the axis of the rubber roller parallel to the axis of the polishing grinding stone; and a control means controlling the temperature distribution along the axial direction of the outer circumference surface of the rubber roller.
