PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic clinical thermometer which can confirm the contact state of a human body, without causing direct electrical effect on the human body. SOLUTION: The electronic clinical thermometer has a hollow probe 3, which is equipped with a temperature measuring part 3a, having a temperature sensor for detecting temperature; a pressure sensor 7a which detects the pressure inside the hollow of the probe 3; and a determination part which determines whether the temperature measuring part 3a properly contacts with a region to be measured of a user, based on the change in the pressure inside the hollow of the probe 3 caused by a change in the shape of the probe 3.
