PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the rigidity of a telescopic structure, while obtaining uniform rigidity for stress from various directions. SOLUTION: A telescopic mechanism 16 expanding and contracting due to a driving force transmitted from a drive unit 12 via a driving force converting unit 14 comprises an outer cylinder 36, an intermediate cylinder 38 storable in the outer cylinder 36, an inner cylinder 40 storable in the intermediate cylinder 38, a guide mechanism 42 for guiding the outer cylinder 36, the intermediate cylinder 38 and the inner cylinder 40 with each other in the axial direction, and a power transmission unit 44 for relatively displacing the inner cylinder 40 for the intermediate cylinder 38. The power transmission unit 44 having first and second racks 48, 62, and a pinion gear 76 is arranged oppositely to the guide mechanism 42 as a center of the outer cylinder 36, the intermediate cylinder 3 and the inner cylinder 40.
