摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality determination device for a variable operating angle mechanism, detecting the abnormality of the variable operating angle mechanism of an internal combustion engine with a high degree of accuracy. SOLUTION: This abnormality determination device for the variable operating angle mechanism includes the variable operating angle mechanism 12, a control shaft 14, and an actuator moving the control shaft 14. The variable operating angle mechanism 12 enlarges the operating angle of an intake valve 10 arranged in the cylinder of the internal combustion engine when the control shaft 14 is moved in a predetermined direction, and reduces the operating angle of the intake valve 10 when the control shaft 14 is moved in a direction opposite to the predetermined direction. An ECU 50 reads the output value of a rotation sensor 26 as a specific position sensor value and also learns the specific position sensor value to acquire a leaning value, at the timing with the output of a position sensor 28 generated. The ECU 50 compares deviation between the learning value and a newly read specific position sensor value with the total design tolerance to thereby determine the appropriateness of the leaning value.
