CANE AND COMMUNICATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To monitor the everyday life of an elderly person based on information from an acceleration sensor attached to a cane and to achieve cue-based communications by moving the cane.

SOLUTION: A cane 10 includes a sensor module 11 having an acceleration sensor with two axes and another acceleration sensor that outputs a signal corresponding to gravity working at least in e.g. the axial direction (X) of the cane and a signal corresponding to gravity working in a direction (Y) perpendicular to the axis of the cane; a sensor analysis module 13 for analyzing the state of the user of the cane 10 and cues made by the user, based on the sensor outputs of the sensor module 11; and a radio communication function module 15 which sends the analysis results of the sensor analysis module 13 to a monitoring PC 20 provided within a communicable range and having a display module 23. The analysis results received by the communication function module 21 of the monitoring PC 20 are displayed by the display module 23.
