OPTICAL CODE DIVISION MULTIPLEX ACCESS SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a versatile optical code division multiplex access system (OCDMA).

SOLUTION: The optical code division multiplex access system 5 has a central station 2 provided with a multi-port optical coder 1 and a decoding part 4 provided with a decoder 3 for decoding optical signals coded by the multi-port optical coder 1. Then, the multi-port optical coder 1 converts the input optical signals to the coded optical signals whose wavelength is different by a prescribed amount for each code pattern. The decoder 3 is a superstructured fiber Bragg grating SSFBG having a center wavelength corresponding to the coded optical signals.
