<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing control device that can achieve cost reduction while inhibiting an overshoot when changing a phase angle of a VTC. <P>SOLUTION: In an ECU 3, a change amount of a phase angle per unit time that an electric current (duty ratio) carried through an electromagnetic coil repeats an increase and a decrease is configured so that a movement angleθm for each given period of time after the phase change mechanism 12 starts a phase change until it reaches a target phaseθtg is divided into, for instance, three parts, and finally addedθr when reaching the target phase becomes to be smaller than first two phase anglesθop. In this pattern, the VTC moves byθr in a short time due to a small movement angle at the last stage, thereby the reaching time fromθdets toθtg1 can be made shorter, and excessive speed at the second half of VTC can be moderated, thus suppressing the overshoot. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
