PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator contributing to energy saving by improving the visibility of food in a storage compartment, improving user-friendliness, providing confirmation in a short time of the food by the improvement of visibility, and shortening an opened time of a door. SOLUTION: By providing a freezing compartment 1, a drawer type storage container 6, a freezing compartment door 3 opening and closing the freezing compartment 1, a door opening and closing detecting means 7 for detecting the opening and closing of the freezing compartment door 3, a storage compartment door 5 positioned in an upper part of the freezing chamber door 3, an LED interior light 4 installed in a lower part of the storage compartment door 5, and an interior light energization control means 8 for controlling the lighting of the LED interior light 4 by an input of a detection signal from the door opening and closing detecting means 7, the LED interior light 4 is positioned directly above the food when the storage container 6 is drawn and the food is exposed to a position visible to a user, the food can be accurately illuminated, and frost can be prevented since it is placed outside a storage compartment.
