PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sprocket for a chain that reduces vibration and noises that occur when the chain is engaged with the sprocket and that allows a standard chain to be engaged and disengaged smoothly by optimizing the teeth shape and the pitch angles of the teeth shape of the sprocket. SOLUTION: In a sprocket 100 for a chain, a plurality of teeth 105 have a plural kinds of pitch angles of the teeth shape of different sizes and the teeth having the plural kinds of pitch angles of the teeth shape are arranged irregularly. The number of teeth 105L having larger pitch angles of the teeth shape than that of a standard sprocket is larger than that of teeth 105S having smaller pitch angles of the teeth shape than that of the standard sprocket.
