PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further develop an operating device stated in a nonpatented document 1 to fix an operation object such as a printing plate to the operating device on the same height level for every part at least so that positioning accuracy or production tolerance are surely corrected particularly when placing the operation object. SOLUTION: The operating device for a printer has an operating arm comprising an operating mechanism for the operation object provided in the form of a suction device. The suction device is provided with a plurality of sections each having at least one suction nozzle, over the length of the suction device, and these suction nozzles are floatingly supported to one support element. Each nozzle has one stopper element disposed to limit the movement of the operation object sucked by the suction nozzle, being sucked toward the suction device.
