PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cleaning a reverse osmosis membrane module which dispenses with a tank to avoid a large-scale facility, further can control the concentration of a chemical in a cleaning liquid so as not allow a reverse osmosis membrane to be deteriorated caused by the cleaning liquid, and where fouling components of the reverse osmosis membrane are not circulated together with the cleaning liquid and a device therefor. SOLUTION: The method for cleaning a reverse osmosis membrane module which supplies the cleaning liquid that is a cleaning chemical solution of predetermined concentration to the reverse osmosis membrane module to which raw water is fed and permeate and thickened water are taken out, wherein a raw water holding section to which a plurality of adjacent reverse osmosis membrane module-raw water supply ports are coupled and a thickened water holding section to which a plurality of the adjacent reverse osmosis membrane module-thickened water outlets are coupled are connected with a pipe, the water is circulated in the pipe, raw water holding section, inside of the reverse osmosis membrane module, thickened water holding section, and the pipe in this order, and a predetermined amount of the cleaning chemical is introduced into the water being circulated to formulate the cleaning liquid.
