The present invention provides a process executable by a display control system for detecting an interactive signal provided by a laser pointer on the display surface with respect to a projected image, and performing a control action in response. The interactive signal is detected by a change detection algorithm, and verified according to its dominant color ratio and aspect ratio. The control action is actuated only if the interactive signal is continuously detected by the system for a pre-determined time.
