<p>Disclosed are a proximity detector for detecting the proximity and position of an object such as a human finger by means of changes in capacitance at each point of intersection of a plurality of electrodes which are arranged so as to correspond to two-dimensional coordinates, and a proximity detection method, wherein high-speed detection is possible over a high dynamic range with low-voltage operation. AC voltage in various patterns is applied to a plurality of transmission electrodes at the same time, the detected current is inverted by linear operation, and values corresponding to the capacitances at the points of intersection of each of the electrodes are detected.</p> |
