Provided is a data recording device which records and re-distribute stream data such as a television program without causing a load proportional to the number of users, on a recording unit. The stream data in the distributed program is correlated with recorded data in a stream data recording unit (6) by a recording range judgment unit (4). According to the correlation result, only the new distributed data is written to the stream data recording unit (6). A range recording unit (5) records recording request range information indicating the stream data range of a program requested to be recorded by a user. A user identifier identifying theuser is also recorded together with the recording request range information. A re-distribution unit (7) reads out stream data of only the range corresponding to the recording request range information specified by the user recorded by the request range recording process from the stream data recording unit (6) and re-distributes the stream data to the user.
