<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control output of an audio system to provide a proper sound volume to hear in a vehicle to carry out engine auto-stop/start control (so-called idle stop control). <P>SOLUTION: When an engine stop demand is given, the sound volume of the audio system is memorized as a pre-adjustment sound volume. A sound volume that is lower than the pre-adjustment sound volume is set for a target sound volume during idle stop (engine stop), and a sound volume that is audible by an occupant even during cranking is set for a target volume during cranking. After that, the sound volume of the audio system is controlled during idle stop to the target sound volume during idle stop, so that the output sound of the audio system becoming higher to the hearing sense is prevented.
