PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine proper maintenance operation contents according to image data, to provide a high image quality while securing high print efficiency without performing an excessive maintenance operation, and to reduce costs. SOLUTION: This image forming device has: a temperature/humidity information acquisition means acquiring temperature/humidity information of head environment; a nozzle state maintaining ink amount setting means setting a necessary discharge ink amount necessary to maintain an ink discharge function of each nozzle according to the temperature/humidity information; a printing ink amount acquisition means calculating a printing ink amount discharged by each nozzle when making printing according to the image data; an ink amount comparison means comparing the necessary discharge ink amount and the printing ink amount; and a maintenance time setting means setting an estimated time required for maintenance operation of the nozzles including a plurality of kinds. The image forming device has a function of setting the maintenance operation and the maintenance contents, based on an comparison result by the ink amount comparison means and a total print operation time.
