PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slag-removing apparatus which effectively collects the slag by using a difference of specific gravity between the slag and a molten metal, and to provide a slag-removing method. SOLUTION: The slag-removing apparatus 100 includes: a ring-shaped portion 10 having an opening in the vertical direction; a plug portion 20 which is made so as to plug the opening of the ring-shaped portion from the lower side; a mechanism 30 for vertically moving the ring-shaped portion; and a mechanism 40 for vertically moving the plug portion. The slag-removing method includes using the slag-removing apparatus 100. In the slag-removing apparatus 100, the slag-retaining vessel for retaining the slag 82 therein is formed when the opening 11 of the ring-shaped portion 10 is plugged from the lower side by the plug portion 20.
