PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital multifunction machine for automatically generating a root certificate and a server certificate when actuated for a first time to easily perform SSL communication. SOLUTION: When the digital multifunction machine is actuated for the first time, a certificate generating unit generates a PKCS#12 password for a key pair of a self-certificate authority (CA) and then obtains the MAC address of the digital multifunction machine to generate the root certificate using the key par of the self-certificate authority and the MAC address (S101 to S104). Then the certificate generating unit, after acquiring an IP address of the digital multifunction machine, generates a server certificate using a server key pair and the IP address (S105 to S107).
