PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe hermetic compressor having little risk of ignition or explosion even if a refrigerant should leak when using an HC refrigerant in a refrigeration circuit. SOLUTION: In this hermetic compressor 100 using the HC refrigerant, a compression mechanism section 20 and an electric motor 10 are provided in a sealed vessel 1, and a compression chamber composed of a cylinder 16 provided with a rolling piston 7 arranged inside thereof and fitted around the eccentric shaft 6a of the crankshaft 6 rotated by the electric motor 10, and a cylinder head 4 and a frame 5 which close both axial ends of the cylinder 16, is sectioned into a high-pressure chamber and a low-pressure chamber by a vane to successively compress the refrigerant. The core width of the electric motor 10 is formed narrower than the core width of the electric motor 10 with respect to the existing refrigerant such as an R410A refrigerant. D/H is not less than 0.5 and not larger than 1.6, where D represents the inside diameter of the cylinder 16 and H represents height of the cylinder 16. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
