Provided is a label attaching system having a plurality of transfer conveyers (7, 10); a CCD (16) for taking an image of a transfer object; and a label attaching machine (6), which is provided with a plurality of kinds of printing formats and attaches a label to the transfer object. The label attaching system has a measuring step of measuring a distance to the transfer object, based on the image data taken by the CCD (16); a selecting step of selecting one printing format from among a plurality of kinds of printing formats, based on the measured distance to the transfer object; a printing step of printing the label, based on the selected printing format; and an attaching step of attaching the printed label to the transfer object.
