<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive CO-modifying catalyst of improved durability suitable for use in PEFC, a method of preparing the same, a fuel reformer, and a fuel cell system. <P>SOLUTION: The CO-modifying catalyst 10 comprised of supported Cu 12 and supported Mn as the active metal is prepared by the low temperature calcination of a precursor consisting of Cu and Mn prepared by the coprecipitation thereof. Its catalytic activity is prevented from declining by suppressing the particle growth caused by the sintering of Cu 12 constituting the CO-modifying catalyst 10. The specific surface area of Cu is increased by it that Cu and Mn are present in a state of fine particles, which is achieved by virtue of the low temperature calcination, and the surface area in contact with a gas can be maintained due to it that the Cu particle diameters are hardly caused to change by the low temperature calcination. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
