PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a mold for molding a honeycomb structure which is excellent in durability and abrasion resistance and high in moldability and dimensional accuracy, and a method for regenerating the mold. SOLUTION: The method for producing the mold for molding the honeycomb structure which is provided with a mold body 11 having a feed hole for supplying a material and a slit groove 13, including a wide slit groove 13a having a width wider than that of the usual slit groove 13, for molding the material into a honeycomb shape includes the hole processing process for forming the feed hole in the hole forming surface of the mold body 11, the groove processing process for forming the slit groove 13 in the groove forming surface 130 of the mold body 11, the groove width enlargement process for forming the wide slit groove 13a by enlarging the groove width of the slit groove 13 by a water jet 60, and the film forming process for forming a cured film of the surface at least in an edge region formed by the intersection of the groove forming surface 130 in the mold body 11 and the inside surface of the slit groove 13.
