DRUG-RESISTANCE MARKER AND ITS UTILIZATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a genetic marker capable of becoming index of malignancy grading of various cancers such as multiple myeloma and its applications. SOLUTION: A drug-resistance marker composed of a polynucleotide having successive at least 15 bases in a base sequence of MCL1 gene and/or a polynucleotide which is complementary to the polynucleotide and a drug-resistance marker containing an antibody recognizing MCL1 are provided. A method for detecting drug resistance using the marker and a method for screening a substance suppressing expression of gene or protein of the marker are also provided. An antisense nucleotide or double stranded RNA for suppressing expression of the gene in a cancer exhibiting drug resistance resulting from amplification of the gene are further provided.
