A reagent for the determination of sugar in blood comprises o-toluidine, thiourea, an ethylene glycol monolower (up to 6 carbon atoms) alkyl ether, phthalic acid and dimethyl formamide as the solvent. Water may be included as an optional extra. In carrying out the test, the blood sample is deproteinized with 3% trichloracetic acid and centrifuged; a mixture of the supernatant and the reagent is heated on a boiling water bath, cooled and measured at 578mm. |
