[Also in Division F2] In a structural load-bearing joint, a pair of butting wooden members 14 are joined by a pair of connector plates 18, their teeth 24 being embedded in opposite sides of the wooden members. Two pairs of connector plates may be used, Fig. 7. Each sheet metal connector plate has a length to breadth ratio of at least 4 to 1 and comprises rows of uniformly spaced rail-like teeth 24d struck therefrom to leave parallel rows of slots 26d extending longitudinally of the plate, the width of metal between the longitudinal edges 18d of the plate and the outer edges of the slots in the outermost rows being at least 1.5 times the width of metal between the closest spaced mutually adjacent rows. The rows may be uniformly spaced one from another, or one or more wider spaces may be provided between mutually adjacent rows to give a distribution of rows which is symmetrical or only slightly asymmetrical (Fig. 5b, not shown) about the longitudinal axis of the plate. Preferably the teeth in adjacent rows are struck from opposite ends of the slots.
