Provided is a photoelectric conversion device in which an optical element and a signal processing unit can be individually inspected so that, even if either one is faulty, the entire substrate is not wasted and the optical element is not affected by heat from the signal processing unit. A sub-mount substrate (12) is mounted on a mount substrate (3), and an optical element (light-emitting element) (4A) for converting an electrical signal into an optical signal and emitting light or for receiving light and converting the optical signal into the electrical signal is mounted on the sub-mount substrate (12). A signal processing unit (IC substrate) (5) for transmitting the electrical signal to the optical element (4A) or for receiving the electrical signal from the optical element (4A), and a connector (6) to/from which an external electrical contact terminal is attachable/detachable are mounted on the mount substrate (3).
