METHOD FOR TESTING GRAPHICS PROCESSING UNIT PERFORMANCE FOR GENERAL-PURPOSE COMPUTATION

A method for testing performance of a graphics processing unit for general purposed calculation is provided to be used in developing a software which shows the highest performance in a processor having various features. A method for testing performance of a graphics processing unit comprises the following several steps. A data patch performance in accordance with texture and a pixel buffer is tested(S1). A performance is tested according to a calculation area pattern(S2). A performance is tested according to a version of a graphic card driver(S3). It is determined whether a corresponding graphic processing unit is calculation-restrictive or bandwidth-restrictive(S4). An algorithm adaptive to the graphic processing unit is developed on the basis of each performance test result(S5).
