A method of forming a collar on a tubular component (2) is described, wherein said method comprising the steps of depositing a weld metal (6) onto the surface of the tubular component (2) and machining the collar into the weld material (6), and machining a support shoulder (9) into the collar to facilitate suspension of the tubular component (2).
