<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with area increase and mass production of a product and further increase alignment of a nematic liquid crystalline compound without spoiling productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the optical compensation sheet includes a process of applying a coating solution containing the nematic liquid crystalline compound onto an alignment layer formed on a surface of a running transparent film 16 in advance, a process of aligning the nematic liquid crystalline compound by heating the coating layer at liquid crystal formation temperature T1(°C) after drying and a process of polymerizing and curing the aligned coating layer. When T2(°C) denotes liquid-liquid crystal phase transition temperature of the nematic liquid crystalline compound, the liquid crystal formation temperature T1(°C) is within a range satisfying a relation: T2-10 ≤T1<T2 and heating time is at least 25 seconds. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
