PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state imaging apparatus for minimizing a decrease in horizontal resolution due to addition of pixel signals. SOLUTION: Signals of four horizontally adjacent pixels in a signal of one line are composed as one group, and a signal of one pixel having a four-pixel period is added to a signal of a precedent line which is adjacent to the signal of the one line and already transferred to be held in a horizontal transfer device; while signals of three pixels in the one group which are left in a line memory after signals of the horizontal transfer device are all output are added by the horizontal transfer device to empty the line memory, signal charges of a following line which follow and are held in a vertical transfer device are transferred to the line memory and signals of four pixels are composed as one group. For a signal of one pixel transferred to the precedent line, a signal of one pixel which is on one line having a period of four pixels and 180°different in spatial phase is selectively transferred to the horizontal transfer device to be added to and mixed with the signal of three pixels.
