PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform dust removal processing, without interrupting motion image recording, even during motion image recording. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes: an imaging unit which includes an image sensor for performing photoelectric conversion upon a subject image and generates an image signal based on an output signal from the image sensor; a storage unit for storing therein contamination information containing information relating to at least the position and size of contamination deposited on an optical member disposed in front of the image sensor; a buffer unit for temporarily storing therein the image signal output from the imaging unit; a correction unit which corrects an image signal in a portion that becomes the shadow of the contamination in the image signals output from the buffer unit, and outputs a corrected image signal; and a control unit which controls the buffer unit and the correction unit so as to change the amount of image signals in the portion, that becomes the shadow of the contamination, to be corrected among the image signals output from the imaging unit, in accordance with free capacity of the buffer unit.
