PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object detection system for quickly and highly precisely performing the automatic extraction of an object from an image as the object of retrieval such as a satellite image. SOLUTION: As for the same template image, eight patterns with different angles are prepared, and pattern matching independent of any angle is performed on a retrieval object image by using one of the template images. When adaptability is detected by the pattern matching independent of any angle, pattern matching dependent on the angle is performed on the retrieval object image by using each of the eight patterns with different angles.
