FATTY ACID METAL SALT FOR FORMING ULTRAFINE METAL PARTICLE

A fatty acid metal salt for use in forming ultrafine metal particles. The fatty acid metal salt satisfies at least one of the following: (i) the salt has a water content of 200 ppm or lower; (ii) the salt has a volume-cumulative particle diameter (D90), as determined through particle size distribution analysis by the laser diffraction/scattering method, of 80 µm or smaller; and (iii) the salt contains a metal having an atomic weight of 50-200, and the formation of the fatty acid metal salt resulted in an unreacted-substance amount or by-product amount of 4.0 mol% or smaller. This metal salt can hence be suitable for use in yielding ultrafine metal particles in a resin or in producing a resin composition, coating film, or dispersion containing ultrafine metal particles or a molding of the resin composition.
