Basic monoazo dyes - for anionic - modified fibres, esp acrylonitrile and dicyanethylene polymers and co-polymers

The dyes are of formula: (in which A is H, Cl, Br, NO2, or CN, B is an aromatic carbocyclic gp., X is a linking gp. and Y is a gp. with a cationic nitrogen atom). B is pref. an opt. substd. phenyl gp., Y is a quaternary N atom with 3 alkyl substituent gps. and X is -NR-CH2-CH2- (in which R is 1-4 C alkyl, cyanethyl, 3-6 C alkoxy-alkyl or 4-7 C carbalkoxy-ethyl), or -NH-CO-CH2-. They are suitable for dyeing and printing mordanted cotton, aromatic polyesters esp. those contg. sulphonic gps. polyamides, polyurethanes and esp. acrylonitrile and asymm. dicyanoethylene polymers and co-polymers, giving good to outstanding fastness.
