A power connector with a reduced footprint for use with a domestic appliance (e.g. cordless kettle) comprises a discrete component with at least four terminals (e.g. projecting pins) and a plurality of fixing points 115 for fixing the component to an appliance part. The fixing points 115 are arranged around a substantially rectangular periphery of the connector, wherein at least one longer side of the periphery is re-entrant such that one of the fixing points 115 is positioned towards the centre of the connector. An insert moulded seal (e.g. shaped O-ring 172) clamped between the connector and appliance part may be arranged to prevent ingress of liquid into the connector. A rotatable shutter may be arranged to provide access to the terminals when open and to protect the terminals from ingress of liquid when closed. In another embodiment, the fixing points are unevenly distributed around the periphery of the connector. In another embodiment, the connector may comprise a central terminal and at least three peripheral terminals distributed around, and equally spaced from, the central terminal. In another embodiment, a power connection system comprises two connectors with corresponding terminals arranged so that electrical connection is made between the terminals by relative rotation of the connectors when coupled together. |
