A tire tread rubber composition is provided to ensure viscosity, tensile properties, heat generation, blow out, to improve cut and chip property and wear resistance. A tire tread rubber composition comprises petroleum resin 1~10 parts by weight and plate-like graphite 1~10 parts by weight based on a base rubber 100.0 parts by weight. The petroleum resin has 270~300°C flash point, 105±5 °C softening point, and 1.0±0.3 specific gravity. A method for preparing the plate-like graphite comprises the steps of: injecting graphite in a mixture in which sulfuric acid and nitric acid are mixed in a weight ratio of 1:9~9:1; and washing and drying the product, and heating the dried material at 700~900 °C for 1~5 minutes.
