PURPOSE:To give the proper tension to a tape through a simple structure and to simplify an assembling job by unifying a belt-shaped member, a coupling hook and a coupling holder into a main body for a control mechanism which controls the damping force to a reel turntable. CONSTITUTION:If the tension of a tape 10 is excessive for a damping mechanism 20 which controls the damping force to a reel turntable 1, this excessive tension rotates a tape tension detecting arm 7 clockwise around a shaft 8 via a pin 9. Then a pad 22 of a belt-shaped mamber 2 connected to a coupling hook 5 reduces the power which press and fixes with friction the turntable 1. Thus the tension of th tape 10 is reduced. In such a way, a proper level of tension is applied to the tape 10 with the balance secured among the frictional press-contact force applied to the turntable 1, the moment A produced by the tension of the tape 10 and the spring power B of a neck 11. A belt-shaped frame 21, the hook 5 and a coupling holder 3 are unified into a body to reduce the cost. In addition, the assembling job is simplified since the pad 22 is fitted into the frame 21.
